having some trouble with low pH (7.8 ~ 8.0) and i thought about adding a chemi-pure bag into the back chamber. would it work?

it says it will stabalize pH and whatnot.

I use it in my nanocube, works like a charm, it does a lot more than just keeping your Ph steady. If you use Chemi-pure and have carbon stop using carbon.

I prefer Purigen. It's rechargeable. Doesn't Chemi-Pure lower the pH? I thought that's why discus & other softwater keepers use it.

Chemi-pure is a high grade carbon ground small to increase surface area and adsorption. It is coupled with ion exchange resins that aid in the removal of dissolved organics. This product is awesome in both FW and SW and I have used it faithfully for years. As far as pH is concerned cheap carbon products are loaded with phosphates and can lower pH depending on the systems alkalinity.

As far as purigen and other rechargeable white carbon products go I do not completely trust them. Do they work? Yes, however they have been linked to toxic events when mixed with products like Amquel and other liquid stress/dechlorinators. Why do they do this? I am not sure and the jury is out.

If you use the Chemi-pure replace the bag every 30 days.

i throw chemi-pure in my system once or twice a year if for nothing more than water clearity-its incredible how clear your tank looks after running that stuff even for just a week.
