Chicago Anemone help needed! Experts pls

Interesting. Long term, I would want a tank dedicated to black widows.

Love my black widow. Just refuses to split. Meanwhile my rbtas never stop. Started with one. Had 6 now 3 left. All in a 4.8G lol.

Never had luck mixing Colorado, Chicago and Black Widows. Now just sticking to Chicagos.

Curious - what happened if you mix them?

I have had zero issues -- my CSB and ChSB touch each other all the time! I don't even run carbon, only as needed to polish the water.

They touched and melted. Lineage matters I think. I only have Chicago's left in the tank.
Any chances that those you have are one and the same kind and mis-identified as a CSB or ChSB?

Nope. Shak Daddy Chicago and Sang Lee Colorado — totally different.

These anemones should coexist fine - just different morphs; however, unexplained stories like yours made me realize that we are constantly learning in this hobby.

I was never able to mix high end morphs either. Started out fine then they just wasted away. lots of $$ down the drain for me :(

Anemones have their own chemical warfare, just like any other coral
I found out the hard way as well. Mixing magnifica with rainbows or any other anemones the magnifica would always dies. Same if you're mixing colorados or other high end anemones. There are a few occasions where people get lucky in mixing, but sometimes doesn't last long. Your best bet is to choose one anemone and just go with that. Unless you're like me and have 6-8 different species all in different tanks
I now collect high anemones and just stick to one species in each tank haven't had any problems since

And other people’s experiences are not fact either. Likewise, we should stop of these urban myths and explain why these “high-end” anemones cannot be mixed.

I would encourage the OP to go through the posts on here, and elsewhere, and catalog the successes vs failures, the difference is staggering.

I see people saying low nutrients, but the phosphates numbers are sky high.... Sure, nitrates are low, but that phos number needs to be lower, and more stable than this range.

Consensus says phos .06.
I and some others say .03, up to .3 is okay. I'm shooting for .1 myself.

The phosphate was 0.04-0.09 just realized it was wrong in the original post. I actually moved them to a tank of just anemones. although it’s mixed with high phosphates (too high for Hanna) they have survived and come back from the bleaching. Thanks to all who gave info, I think my sps display is just not cut out for nems. I suspect it is something bacterial I have also used cipro on the tank with little to no results.

You can see yellow of the colorados tucked in the middle. They are now in higher phosphate and nitrate, with low alk. They came from a dirty tank so maybe they just like dirty tanks

Exactly. A softie tank can just be dirty and it's favorable for them. Only SPS have issues with high nutrients.

You can raise your phos up to .15 maybe to keep the softies happy but monitor how your SPS reacts. How are things looking now with your anemone?

Anemones are great! I just ended up moving them to a dirtier tank that’s dedicated to anemones (I think the pic is above) and they’re thriving. The bleached one recovered and they’re looking so good I’ve been thinking about cutting them, however with the history they’ve had I’m unsure lol. Moral of the story sps and nems should be kept separate.

Decided to leave the phosphate low in the SPS tank because I primarily keep LPS and SPS I have one softie outs 50 corals so decided to let the tank coast cuz things r growing!
