So I am building a 300 DD in wall. The tank will sit in a room about 10x6 that I made in the garage, the room is very well insulated. So my question is, what would be better for me to do ? Install a mini split heat pump unit to maintain the room cool or buy a 1/2 hp chiller? If I go the chiller route I would bring an Hvac vent from my unit stairs, but since it's a long run it will not have too much impact on room. Also what chiller would you recommend?

Thanks all

Figure out which will cost you the least amount of money yearly to do. Go that route, a 1/2hp chiller is going to do some damage on the electric bill. With that being said having dealt with a situation very similar to this. I would try to keep the garage cool before I went with a chiller. The reason being hot air holds a lot more humidity so the tank can be at temp with a chiller but with the room being hot your going to be battling moisture in the air and will 100% guarantee you'll have to add a dehumidifier to the room. But if the room is somewhat cold you'll save yourself the headache of having to deal with moisture. I'm sure you know all the crap moisture causes.

My situation is having 400g+ of water in my basement but since it has a door leading outside (house is on a hill) it's been a consistent 84 degrees downstairs. If I don't run a dehumidifier there will be so much moisture it'll condensate on the pipes in the washer room so bad, I'll have puddles on the floor. Surface agitation has kept the tank at 80 degrees because I don't have the money to invest into a large enough chiller currently. Can't wait until winter so I don't have to deal with this crap any longer lol

I mean you could find a way to keep the room colder and if that fails have a chiller there as a safety back up. That way the chiller isn't running 24/7.
