My wife has been excepted to Chiropractor School and she loves the idea of helping people. But, it seems like there are many mixed thoughts about Chiropractic Care. I realize that there are some quack Chiropractors but there are also quack doctors, dentist and so on. So, just looking for some feedback on what people might think about Chiropractors.
I am speaking of the "modern day" Chiropractor that helps with back, neck, knee, hip pasins and so one. Not, the type of Chiroptactic Care that the care giver feels that they can heal a brain tumor by adjusting a persons spine.
Dont be shy about it. Tell me what you really think!

I am totally fine with it. Holistic medicine is gaining more mainstream acceptance in medicine. Last year (?) I attended a Grand Rounds w/ a presenter from Harvard. She was doing functional MRI of the brain to show the effects of acupuncture, and the results showed dramatic stimulus of many different areas. There is something to it from a scientific standpoint, which is why some medical schools are listening to physicians who advocate adopting some 'holistic' medicine as part of their curricula.

Regardless of the perceived value to academia, if you can help alleviate a person's back pain, it's valuable. If they leave better than when they walked in, I think there's benefit in it.

That said, I live in a metropolitan area w/ a higher number of Asians than many other parts of the country, which may have a different take on things.

Chiropractor here. Best advice is don't believe everything they tell you in chiropractic school and try and keep an open mind.

as a person in a field of healthcare, it really chaps my behind to hear these quack doc's talk.

i do strongly believe in chiropractors, as my dad went to one for years. he had numbness and tingling running down his arms every morning, due to being thrown off a tractor when he was in his teens. he went to a chiropractor for years and years, and they did wonderful things for him. eventually, he no longer needed to go.

that having been said, there is a local chiropractor who is always running ads on the radio. he's one of the ones who doesn't get their children vaccinated, and believe every illness can be cured by going to him.

nope, sorry, ain't happenin. dude is a quack.

nothing wrong with holistic medicine, as far as i'm concerned, as there are many potent tx's out there that are natural. however, to say i'm getting pneumonia, because i haven't seen a chiropractor? i don't need to get my children vaccinated, because they see a chiropractor?

that's the kind of person she needs to not be.

as long as she keeps herself grounded and head open, she'll do great. i think chiropractors are great, but the quacks are just quacks.

Thanks for you input! I believe you and I have the same outlook on Chiroprators.

Thanks for the link! If you dont mind me asking, how long have you been a Chiroprator? Do you enjoy doing what you do?

Here's some research that will keep your wife motivated during school. Actually, some good info for anyone with high blood pressure.

Some of them are really over the top with Chiropractic Care. I went to a Chiropractor aver being in a car accident. The first one I went to was a horrible experience. But, the second Chiropractor that I visited was absolutely amazing and see really help. My back pains.
I feel that if you are sick you chould see a family doctor and if yor back, neck, hips or anything along that line is hurting then you should see a Chiropractor....

I have a neighbor that is a chiropractor, I had a migraine headache, my wife mentioned it to his wife, and he came over right away. I had never been to a Chiropractor before, he asked a few questions, pushed here, pushed there... Then POP! I could literally FEEL the pain in my head "drain" down my spine, and away. I am sure there are quacks, but I am sold on the usefulness they provide in some situations.

5 years. I really do enjoy my jobs even more so since I only work about 20 hrs per week. Good things are the patients and the bad things are the patients.

some are good some suck. one convinced my sister to have her baby adjusted when he was born. so at less then 24 hours old he did his thing. luckily everything turned out fine but man oh man. what could have happened for an unnecessary procedure. people have been having kids forever and now a newborn needs adjusting because he was all cramped up in the whom. give me a break.

I loved my chiropractor almost as much as my husband. LOL. Unfortunally I have moved and need to find another one.
