in the next week or so I'm going to buy 10 blue green chromis and hope that 7 of them make it through qt....
what's the best way to qt them?
since I've noticed a few threads lately about Uronema being rampant in chromis i think tackling that right off the bat would be a good idea so im planning on dropping them directly into 1ppm of copper power and seachem metro dosed at 1.5 scoops per 10g. ive been doing the 14 day copper then transfer method the past few months and its been working out well, i haven't lost a single fish other than a copper band that went on a hunger strike.
how long do i have to treat with metro? and is copper and metro too much all at the same time.?
maybe i should just run a course of metro then do a big WC and start copper..?
i also have formalin...i know thats kind of old school but ive had really good success using it in the past....
thought..? help..?
thanks

I would do a 90-minute ruby reef rally (acriflavine, API fungus cure is another option) bath, then transfer to QT with copper + metro like planned.

I’d also food soak metro + focus for 14 days, in case they are carrying uronema internally.

This exactly. I have nothing to add!

14 days of Metro at double the dose seems to be the consensus in treating for uronema. dosed every 48 hours. I usually use GC and add that to the food along with focus and feed for 15-30 days as well. This will treat uronema internally as well as treat for internal parasites and worms.
a lot of people have done metro and copper power with no ill effect.
My personal QT procedure is to do a 40 min formalin bath when the fish first arrives and then within a few days get them into hypo. I do hypo and treat with metro at the same time. This will deal with uronema as well as any flukes. Also tends to keep velvet and ich at bay if present. After 7 days of hypo I slowly raise salinity and at the end of the 14 days treatment of metro I start copper and treat for 14 days. Then into a brand new qt they go for observation.
