Got this female angel a few days ago and I noticed this sore or cut it’s been there for 2 days but hasn’t gotten any worse. I gave her a 30 min formalin bath earlier then followed up with metro in water and food she ate normally literally 20 seconds after the bath. I saw this at my local petco for 80 bucks so I couldn’t resist.

Tomorrow when I do another bath I will take a skin scrape and look at it under my microscope to see what it is because I’m really not sure. If this turns out to be bacterial or just a scrape what antibiotic should I use for it.

Are you QT'ing your Angel? I don't see Uronema but if you do have a Bacterial problem I would use the Metro but would treat the Tank, not the Food.

Yes he’s in a qt I also did treat the water with metro aswell I forgot to mention that but I also put it in the food if there is any uronema internally, but it’s more likely not uronema and just a scrape with a slight bacteria infection. I am gonna take a skin scrape tomorrow to see what it is though.

This looks like a post injury healing opposed to uronema which oval shaped
Keep an eye on area for any development but as of now, no alarm jumping out at me

That looks like a scrape, and it seems stable given the time frame.

If you dose metro orally, you need to calculate the dose and not just guess. It should be 1% by weight in the food. Anything over about 2% and the bitterness keeps the fish from eating it.

I’d probably pass on the skin scrape. You have to dig deep to find Uronema, and the tissue damage that causes will need to be dealt with. Then, despite what you’ll read, internal Uronema isn’t really treatable once lesions are seen.

Update on this if anyone wants to know no change in condition been treating the water with kanaplex doesn’t seem to have healed at all but doesn’t look worse either fish is acting normal.

If it is indeed a missing scale as I suspect, that can take over a month to heal back over.

Uronema would have been fatal in this time frame.
