Slight diversion, but this whole thread reminds me of the story Adam Savage once told about an experiment they did with mice and cardboard. Came back after a weekend and there was just one fat mouse in the cage...

Osmotic shock can kill some fish rapidly and with others can take 2-3 days before the organs shut down. Not uncommon for LFS to keep their salinity low. Often found at 1.015

its always a good idea to test the salinity of the water in the bag before acclimating. The difference between bag and tank salinity will determine the rate at which you acclimate them.
