I've had this citron goby for about a week, and he hasn't eaten anything yet. I put a small pack of algagen pods in there, and they haven't been touched. He mostly has been hanging out my the heater, I'm guessing cause the microbubbles from my protein skimmer bother him, but I don't know. The top picture is of the pods, I think, and the other is of my goby. I don't know how to get him to eat.

Did your tank had it's complete cycle?
Yes, I think so. I saw the ammonia spike and it leveled out, and other water parameters were staying constant for awhile. It was about three weeks before I added live rock and gave the live rock long enough to cure.

Tank appears to be very new. These guys like to be in reef tanks, he may be stressed both because of the new tank and the apparent lack of coral to hide amongst.

Ammonia-0, salinity-1.0248, temp-76F, ph-8.2, don't know nitrite and nitrate at the moment.
Would getting a frag of leather coral or mushroom help for him to hide?
I have Api reef and freshwater test kits, but I haven't used them that often.

Knowing where your parameters are is the key in this hobby.
If that are API test you're not far off from real numbers as API not always accurate as many hobbyist have experienced.
A leather coral would be great as a few cheap zoa's to start out.
It will bring color into your reef as well.
It might be quit a drive but I have some free corals up for grab as some one dropped off some Tyree Green toadstools and a variety of zoa's at my place.

Concern yourself with figuring out why your fish is stressed before you go adding coral. @4FordFamily is right, typ these fish stay within sps coral like acropora. How big of tank? Have you done any water changes yet?
You can turn off you filter and pumps and take about 1 gallon out and slowly add one gallon back in.

Try nutramar ova, it's designed for small gobies and pipefish. It is also irresistible to any fish I have given it to. You can order it on marine depot. I would also recommend quality test kits. Salifert are cheapest of the high quality ones.
my gobies love LRS reef frenzy nano. that being said, I've had a hard time keeping citron gobies, black clown gobies and green clown gobies for long. it seems hard for them to adapt.

Two weeks ago, I put some algagen pods in my tank, and they started growing and taking over the live rock. People have said they've never seen their citron goby eat, but I saw mine eat for the first time yesterday. :-) He has started to not hide from me anymore and he loves eating these pods off of some hair algae. I'm so happy he's eating, but now my hair algae is getting a little out of control. I was thinking of adding a crab or two for my 8.5 gal? I don't like snails as they take over, but crabs seem to eat hair algae?

I have a ten-gallon QT tank with about 9 gallons of water in it. When I have a fish in there for QT, I change about 8 gallons every day from my DT, so it doesn't cycle. It takes about 5 minutes.
