I've had this squamosa clam for over a year now and I changed lighting recently and think I may have burnt him. I went from 2 gen3 xr30w pros at 80% to 2 gen 4 pros and aquaticlife t5 retro at 70% so I dropped it to 50% now but now the clam seems to still be getting a little worse. It started as 2 white spots a couple weeks ago and then turned into 1 tear about 10days ago so I lowered lighting and today I noticed the other white spot had opened. Is there anything i can do for it or do i have to just wait it out? My other clam seems to be acting normal

The bottom clam looks ok IMO. I would give them time to acclimate. Tears in the mantle usually can heal in time given stable parameters. I'm afraid all you can do is wait it out. Are you sure nothing is nipping at the mantle? Also, is their new growth on the squamosa's upper margins of the shell?

No fish have been added in 6ish months and haven't seen anything nip at it. But I'll keep an eye on it also no new growth but it seems to be getting a bit more light sensitive as of lately

Retraction of the mantle is a good sign but new shell growth is the positive way to know the clam is healthy and taking in elements for growth. Keep an eye for gaping of the clam or the deteriorated portions of the mantle gets worse.

Just remember it can be a fish you think is a model citizen. Fish can change in a heart beat not saying one did just keep a close eye on them
