I have a deresa clam that is about 6” across. I’ve had it for about 3 years. 2 days ago I made a stupid mistake when trying to move a large rock in the aquarium, I dropped it right on the clam.

It closed up for the rest of the day but the next day it opened up and looked good. Today it still looks good except I notice to holes on its mantle right where it folds over its shell. I’m guessing the rock tore it.

My question is, can clams heal from injuries like that and is there something I should do for it?

Thanks!

Keep an eye on it for recovery and hopefully it will pull through. If not then I would eat it before it dies and fouls up the tank.

@Joker Corals - Thanks again for the beautiful pack and the clams! See you again, soon.

Thanks. Hopefully it pulls through. It looks healthy today still other than the holes

I dropped a rock on my derasa and tore the mantle. It even broke the new growth on the shell. It healed fine without any intervention from me. As long as it’s opening, I wouldn’t worry about it.

That’s good to hear. Glad yours recovered fine.

It has a little scar in the mantle where it was injured.
