Anyone kept these together? I understand some blennies can nibble on clam mantles.

This is the blenny I'm talking about. Look at his little, smiley face! ;Woot

That is a super nice looking fish! I have never owned one so I can't give you a good answer and my first clam experience years ago didn't end well. I'm sure someone is familiar with pairing them up. #reefsquad, anyone with pairing experience on these two?

Have had a couple of them at different times, have never seen them bother a clam. Wouldn't surprise me that much if one did either, but I think they're lower down the risk list compared to a pygmy angel, for example.

Gotcha. I think it's worth the risk - feels fairly low chance of clam death.

I'd say you'll be fine with a clam and a tail spot. The clam will tell you if it's being irritated by staying closed, etc.
I had that with a cleaner wrasse. Awesome fish but clams are better so he had to go.

Great thing is...

You can use the clam as bait for a fish trap ;)

Haven't had a tailspot and clam together but what I can tell you is if you target feed coral, they will learn and start nipping especially at large lps such as scolymia. I ended up getting rid of it. Cute fish though - smart and lots of personality.

I just feed mine first, then target feed.

Yea that helps but they can still develop a bad habit. Pretty soon they are picking at corals off and on through the day. I think this probably goes for other blennies as well - thus the mixed reputation.

Clownfish in a clam always made me nervous, looks like he could swallow him whole;Hilarious

I love that monti on the right. I have the same one growing out in my tank, also on a bare bottom.

Mine goes through periods of really strange growth. It rose up 2” before it decided to spread. I’m sorry I had no idea it was mind trick. Mine has only maintained the colour in your picture.
