If you’re talking about Chaeto, I’ve got some on the way from Algaebarn…seems to be where many get it from. Assuming mine does well I’m happy to break off some for you..:but can’t guarantee it’s “clean” status after it’s been in my tank.

Edit: I read your zip as 20171? In which case I'm near there. But your location says Ocala...in which case, not so much!

Thank you for your offer, it was very nice of you. Tried algae barn last time around, bugs. This is quite a problem because, after almost four years of isolation, if I now want to do a reef I am forced to introduce "iffy" things. Corals, algea, fish, cleanup crew, all have to come in wet, and if that water has anything in it, then I'll have it too. I had SOOOO MANY fish die the last time around and spent thousands before giving up that I'm totally paranoid now. I know there ARE many clean successful tanks out there, but it's russian roulette. All I can do is turn over the cash and pray.

I feel your pain. I made the choice early to get some ocean live rock, buy pre-quarantined fish from a reputable source, dip every coral that comes in...and hope for the best (while keeping a close eye on things). Could be why I'm spending a couple hours today cleaning up some dinos that just popped up!

I think that when Algae Barn says that their Cheato is "clean", they mean it's free from parasites. Those "bugs" are beneficial critters, and considered a good thing to have.

There you go. who wants to spend time cleaning up problems instead of enjoying the beauty. I already spent 1600 on corals from a very trusted source, Jason Fox, and i'm as certain as is reasonable that I will have no problems there. I'm thinking maybe no refugium or algae scrubber and no cleanup crew, which is unfortunate because I've always loved the crabs, shrimp and snails. I have five fish and am really just doing it for the corals, so no more fish. the tank is a 210, plus sump, so the bioload will always be low and hopefully the water volume will keep things stable. I know the bugs are good, but saying clean should mean clean, and it worries me. Like I said, PTSD paranoia. You'll probably be okay with AB.
