Cleaning oiled tools for use in tank?

I bought some needle nose pliers to snip some growth tips in hard to reach places that are causing coral warfare. I noticed some oil on the which wasn't a total surprise. How can I clean these to be reef safe? I though regular dish soap, and maybe that still the way with some profuse rising afterwards. The tools won't be staying in the tank, just in and out but the less contamination the better.

Thoughts on how to manage this?

order some bone cutters, BRS has a deal on a frag kit. they will still need to be cleaned. I recommend Dawn dish soap, i good scrubbing and work the cutters open and closed while in the sudsy water to clean the pivot point of the cutters. These cutters are all stainless, and after use can be rinsed and dried in a preheated oven at 170 to 200 deg for about 10 min. This will improve the life of the cutters

probably rusted, you don't want that in your tank. Saltwater is merciless on metal

I have some bone cutters. they are too big to get where I need too. These are long needle nosed pliers with a lengthy reach so I can get under the other colonies.

You can wash them as mentioned. I’d use a moly grease intended for saltwater use in order to keep them from rusting. Once they start to rust, keep them out of the tank

Hm, the moly grease is an idea. It's pricey! It's actually more than the cost of the 3 piece plier set:). I'll probably just wash them with dawn, rinse them good and use them. I always rinse my cutters off in RO/DI water after use and so far they are doing well.
