I’m picking up a bunch of neglected liverock and want to kill it so to speak and start fresh.

Well I watched the brs bleach video and that would be fine but it’s 10 degrees outside.

So is there anything I can do to clean it indoors?

Could I let it sit out side and feeeze till I’m ready to use it and let it sit in the tank for a while and just change the water before adding the final water for the tank?

10:1 water to bleach ratio according to BRS doesnt seem too strong/dangerous. Find a spare bathroom you dont use, load up your rocks in a tub or 55gal trash can, fill it with water and bleach and let it work? Turn on the exhaust fan if you are worried about the fumes. Should be relatively safe. Rinse and soak the rocks in RODI water afterwards

Did mine in small batches in 5 gallon Buckets in a closet. Completely safe indoors so long as you don't like lock yourself in an airtight room etc.
Garage would be perfect.

I've done this indoors in my basement a time or two, it's not that bad.

I'm going to advise that household bleach is not what it used to be - don't even get me started on Bleach!

I'd go more bleach than 10:1 water to bleach. The bleach they sell is a lot weaker than it was even just a few years ago. It's also not a full gallon jug anymore - please, don't get me started lol!

When I do this, I use swimming pool liquid chlorine, which is the same thing as bleach (a solution of sodium hypochlorite), but the pool stuff comes at a higher concentration. It might be hard to find this time of year outside of a swimming pool store, but in the nicer months you can find it at home stores or your local Mega-Lo-Mart.

If there's not enough chlorine in your mix to oxidize all the organics on your rocks, the chlorine will simply be exhausted. You may need two rounds, depending on the rocks and how much chlorine you used. The rocks should be pretty much bright white and like-new again.

Remember to be safe for both you and your family, and pets. Wear skin and eye protection, and use a respirator (though fumes are not bad when you're bucket is covered).

Good luck!
