A few days after palooza one of my large frag systems began to show some weird signs of zoanthid lashes disappearing and a bunch of random zoanthids began to close up and then brown over. In roughly a week since that time the zoanthids have managed to get a brown on them I cannot get off.

Being as that I need an answer for absolutely everything, I decided to pick up a scope, camera, some slides, and revisit high school. I also compared some sick polyps next to a healthy one and what I found is rather odd.

Here is a video of a polyp in question:

and an image as well. As you can see I circled a few of these things but they are overly abundant. It looks like some kind of diatom possibly? But it's literally encrusted and they seem to be growing like a skyscraper. This is a direct image from the video, and is off the polyp, this is for sure the brown stuff not allowing it to open.

Following this sick polyp I took another from a tank thats been treated with .5ml of witch hazel everyday for a week. There was never really a problem with the tank, but i've been trying to run a few experiments. This is what a coral looks like in from that tank under the scope:

Here is an image from that video, and as you can see the skin is nice and clean, there is absolutely NOTHING strange here!

Here is another polyp also beginning to no longer open up, but not progressed as far as the original above:

I'll be looking further into this, but if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Articles and resources would help as well.

Thanks for taking the time to look :-)
