One of the polyps on my fireworks clove has gone brown from tip almost to base. Should I snip it off? Will it "spread" to the other polyps? Or leave it be?

Yes as I don’t believe that stem is a clove but something foreign attachedOne of the polyps on my fireworks clove has gone brown from tip almost to base. Should I snip it off? Will it "spread" to the other polyps? Or leave it be?
