You can treat display but more effective in separate tank as rock will somewhat absorb meds and you want to treat for extended period to assure the fish is clear of disease
Okay that’s fair. I wouldn’t mind doing Qt it just seems like a headache since I’m right smack dab In the middle of hypo

I’m gonna start dosing into the DT tomorrow, just ordered more bottles. When you say extended period like 6-7 days long or longer ? Or just until the skin is cleared up ?

Update. Still thinking about letting it go till tomorrow no meds and see what it looks like, what do you guys think ??
@vetteguy53081

O.K., in this video I can see more rapid breathing in the clown, as well as a more "stilted" swimming pattern (like the fish is a bit "stiff"). To me, that indicates that this is probably Brooklynella.

Okay thanks for the diagnosis guys. I started the first dose of Rally this morning, I really hope I’m not too late. He’s still breathing pretty heavy and occasionally shaking around. Puffer is at the bottom occasionally now too, breathing heavy. Getting kind of nervous. Two more bottles on the way.

I would just Qt them but I don’t really think the added stress of netting them out and into another tank is gonna do any good

On another note, can someone help me understand what’s going on ? I was pretty sure I was doing everything right and by the books with this hypo. My clowns were perfectly healthy before all of this. Went into hypo to treat ich on the puffer ( no spots on clowns) The spots started to clear up on the puffer and now there’s lesions on my clown and my puffer looks like he’s about to die. Is this just a second bacterial infection that the puffer had that was lingering or something ? @vetteguy53081 @Jay Hemdal

I often stress and do not recommend hypo for clowns. Hypo works, but with certain fish and often not the small ones. I recommend Often for clowns - Ruby Rally Pro and for ich Coppersafe. Please post New pics or video of the clowns under brighter light intensity

Here’s an updated pic. Maybe I’m just convincing myself but it looks a little bit better. Almost looks like the white part wants to fall off

This is highly bacterial and will have potential to worsen. Ruby rally pro would help but highly recommend treatment in a separate tank using Seachem Neoplex or even Kanaplex with added aeration using air stone.

Okay I really didn’t want to go the separate tank route which is kinda why I started hypo to begin with. But I guess it’s looking like I don’t have a choice. I guess I just don’t understand why this is happening if they looked healthy at the start of hypo and the puffers spots were disappearing/ are gone. Can you help me make sure I got this right ?

So you’re suggesting I take everything out, both puffer and clowns and put then in a smaller seperate QT tank and treat with Ruby rally pro or seachem neoplex for 4-6 weeks until the tank is fallow ?

How does it differ if I’m in hypo? Does my QT tank just have to be matching salinity and that’s it? Hypo won’t affect Qt at all?

All fish are still eating but not seeing much improvement. Still dosing Ruby in DT will attach pics after work it looks super strange and I can’t find pics of anything similar online

Larger fish ok in hypo. Suggesting smaller such as clowns, basslets and gobies as example
Hypo addresses flukes and ich. Ruby addresses most everything but ich

Updated video. Looks like the muscle underneath is turning dark, almost black and purple like a bruise or something. Lesion seems to be open now like the white part fell off or something. Looks like a cut or gash underneath it

This is on both sides of fish showing bacterial issue instead of injury and Ruby will not be strong enough to effectively treat this and best is broad spectrum antibiotic such as Seachem Kanaplex which is absorbed by the fish. Video was tough to see but the body is visible enough to see

Why is Ruby not strong enough? I just ordered like 45 dollars of that stuff because I thought it’d work. How long of a treatment with Kanaplex ? Added to food or just dropped in tank?

Not gonna lie I’m kinda thinking about just throwing the tank on marketplace at this point

Ruby is a reef safe treatment and will treat an array of issues including bacterial, velvet, flukes, brook and fin rot but Takes longer. Kanaplex is more aggressive with this issue which reached this point and best applied diluted and added via sump or path of flow. I do not recommend added wiith food. Its absorbed by fish treating it internally an externally.

Okay thanks for the fast replies and all the help. It’s on the way , be here tomorrow I hope. I may update as I treat with pics incase anyone happens to come across this in the future with similar issues.

Just seeing this now - the new video shows what I think you’ve already deduced - this is an internal problem that is showing signs on the skin on both sides of the fish.
This is very different than what I was thinking before - that this was an external infection working in….
Could be bacterial, but it could also be Uronema. I’d go with an antibiotic because Uronema isn’t really treatable.

What would you recommend medication wise ? Would metroplex + Kanaplex work or is this guy too far gone ? Still eating/swimming normally from what I can tell. Not breathing super heavy. Will take pics on lunch break again

Metro and kanaplex dosed in the water, right? We have people picking up bad advice and trying to mix it unmeasured in the food - bad idea.

Yes dosed in the sump. I did a dose of metroplex yesterday evening. Will do Kanaplex when it arrives later today. I got 2 vials for a 120 gallon. Hoping that will do it
