I joined R2R with intention to gain knowledge to start my journey to keep clownfish, sea anemone and corals, etc. I've been keeping goldfish (fresh water) for approx 3 years, but understand keeping a marine tank is more challenging.

There is no way to predict how complicated it will get my first tank which I broke down at my sons friend all in buckets water rock three jerk fish no coral. drove it home battled hair algae for 6 months spent lots of money on fish and coral which all died the coral because of ignorance the fish over a very disastrous accident ( spilled the skimmer cup into the tank. it was all over in seconds. One fish survived A CLOWN, Its by itself and the tank is thriving full of mushrooms that breed by themselves, don't test dose nothing but 5 gallon water changes a week ( it is a 40 ). My other Tank which is my build from scratch has been full of challanges and patience. Its doing very good now but always throws a curve at me once in awhile/ The trick to me is to filter advice given since a lot of it is opinion or regurgated by people that just need that thumbs up for reassurance. This site is full of unbelivably knowledgable people whith years of experiance or knowledge. I used to argue with some peopleover opinions but am trying to stop unless I experiance something with my own eyes. Along with that to me Patiance is key. Its not a race to me it is a trip and as in life you better know how to because its over in a flash. And as an old advice colum said " Anne Landers " was asked by someone . " I want to be a doctor but at my age when I graduate I will be 40. Should I spend the time ? " The answer was . " How old will you be if you don't spend the time
