Hey Guys! Noob to R2R here and just wanted to share a video and photos of my first attempt at a reef tank that just turned 1 year old. It's a 40 breeder reef, peninsula style, and bare bottom. Here's a list of the equipment that run my tank!


Tank Size:
40 Breeder Display (bare bottom)
20 gallon sump

Filtration:
200 Micron Filter Sock
Marine pure block
Reef Octopus SRO-1000 Int.
BRS Mini Carbon Reactor
Reef Dynamics BPR-135

Lighting:
Reef Breeder Photon 24 w/ DIY diffuser

Flow:
Jebao DC-9000 Return Pump
Maxspect Gyre XF-130

ATO:
Tunze Osmolator

Dosing:
Jebao DP-4 Auto Dosing Pump

What a year it has been, the learning curve was definitely steep and it was a great journey! Now to watch the corals grow out and fill this tank! I will end this with a FTS from a side panel. If anyone wants pictures of the entire setup, sump, or anything in general; I'll be happy to do so!

awesome tank and photos. I want to do a penninsula for my next build. No dead spots with the gyre?

Thanks! I love peninsula tanks because you can place a lot more corals on either side of the rock work.

The gyre does have somewhat of a dead spot directly in the middle of the tank but I'm counteracting that by having the return outlet directed in the area that needs the flow.

Alrighty, as requested this is lighting schedule for my photon v2. Lmk if you have questions, apparently its supposed to be similar to the ecotech AB+ schedule but it works for me! Screen Shot 2019-02-22 at 3.11.34 PM.png

How high off the water line? And did you measure par?
