what is the best and worst thing that happened to your display over that period ?
That's easy...flat worms. Not the acro eating kind, the mostly harmless ones. It was back in 2009 and I treated my tank with Flatworm Exit not realizing just how bad it was infested. I pretty much lost EVERYTHING. I almost threw in the towel after that.

The best thing was building the fish room in the basement. It allowed me to move all my filtration, sump, top off, calcium reactor, the STINK, all down to the basement. Best thing EVER!!

Is that the same sailfin tang down through the years?

Yes indeed!! That is Piggy, the VERY FIRST fish I ever bought wayyyyy back in 2007. Rescued him from Petco and he's been the boss of the tank ever since
