Considering BTA, am I crazy?

Just like the title says I am considering a BTA. Tank is a 50 gallon IM fusion stocked with LPS and softies, fairly grown out. I also have a vortech mp10 in the display. Am I crazy wanting to try a BTA in here for my clowns? I have not tried a BTA since the late 2000's.

Btas were more of a challenge then, weve improved the water a lot.
I think btas are less of a challenge than lps.
Beware, the bta goes where he wants, not where you want.
They can damage most corals if they want the space. Recently gave one to lfs, it had split and the new 1/2 bta was bothering stuff.

More so questioning my sanity in trying one due to movement/powerhead. Do a lot of people regret adding one? Will they typically stay put once they have found their happy place?

And you probably know different clown species prefer different hosts.
My daughters ocellaris live in the zoa garden, brushing aggressively against the polyps. Ive never seen fluffier zoas.

Yes , they stay put once settled . If you are worried about phead damage, you can wrap the phead intake in the foot of a nylon stocking.
Mine never went there in 75g.

they are a breeding pair I just inherited in a tank purchase. They were laying eggs on the back corner of glass but since I refilled and scaped the tank they are now chilling in the front corner, no more eggs yet.

It is not automatic that the clowns will move to the bta. You might have to coax them.
But that is a cool symbiosis, and thats why we do this, so why not get a bta and try.

I thought I'd read somewhere that Ocellaris are sometimes difficult to get to host outside of natural host and BTA isn't one. However, mine are my favorite part of my tank and only moved a bit at first then found the place they liked and stayed there. I slid pvc with small holes under my intake until they got settled, otherwise they can very easily get shredded.

for oscellaris, that is their native host.
We have a pair that host in a zoa mat.

Mine are glued to my torch and hammer corals. Once they pick a spot I think they are fairly unlikely to go somewhere else.

Carpets are a bit harder to keep healthy than BTA's. If you don't have anemone experience I'm not sure starting with a carpet will be a good way to go.
