Constipation in reef fishes

If your fish is actually constipated and not experiencing another issue, Epsom salt, peas, and avoiding fatty foods will help.

These are all freshwater remedies and ineffective with marine fish

Treatment for constipation in reef fishes
Brine shrimp serves as a laxative but you can also stop feeding 12-24 hours to allow fish to pass it on its own thereby losing some of the mass.

IMO - "constipation" as seen in humans is pretty rare in fish. What are the symptoms you're seeing?

Ascites (fluid in the belly), edema (fluid in the tissues) or egg binding are also causes of a fish being swollen and then diagnosed as "constipated". Even over eating can make a fish look "full".

Stringy feces can also have multiple causes, if you are seeing that.
