A controller can allow YOU to tune in even more, knowing more about the specific state of the system, make waves, time lights, keep some aspects within certain parameters, and alerting you of some changes that could be criticle/crucial that, without your attention would be ~devistating~.

IMO~ There are 2 types of hobbyists:
1-Those who just want to look at the glass box full of pretty things.
2-Those who know how the pretty glass box works, and know when somthing is wrong.

Controllers and automated systems;
CONTROLLERS DO NOT REPLACE YOUR EYES!
When are you no longer part of the upkeep or monitoring, what are you doing with a reef?
Is the whole point to be far away when the text comes in to tell you there is nothing you can do? and if you even try to ask a friend or family to help- they will likely mess a bunch of stuff up.
We NEED to be there once a day at least, watching, knowing what is up, ready to react.
Corals sting, fish behave in unpredictable ways, nems move, CRAZYNESS happens in the reef.
If you are watching~ you are the controller, the best one available, equipped with senses that do not need replacing, or maintaining, (maybe just a lil experience).
Equipment is great, controllers are awsome, but if we rely on them too much we become complacent and then our animals are at increased risk.
Expecting that a controller will allow you to not look at the system for extended periods of time is a mistake, if you are not able or willing to maintain the reef and you are just looking for the easy way out....pay a local expert to maintain your reef.
Just my 2 cents.

dont let it get wet.

I want one for when I go out of town, I watch my tank everyday but I also go out of town every now and again and would love for my tank to be fully auto which it basically is. But if something does go wrong I would like to know asap so I can address the situation if at all possible. If not oh well thats a risk we all take having an aquarium... A controller cant stop a broken glass panel and neither can you lol
