Cool find

My buddy that works on scallop boat found this in the dredge other day, they were dragging for scallops about 40 miles offshore in 240-260 foot of water,, I’m not sure what kind of metal it is made from. It’s very thick and heavy (4-6lbs) judging by the color it turned I’m thinking it’s brass or copper ( I’m leaning on brass) I’m soaking it in a tub of hot water and vinegar at the moment. If it’s brass I’m gonna out it in 5gal tank and try to cycle it,, then move to my big tank. Think it would look cool in tank

Soon as I figure out what it’s made of (if it’s got copper in it then can’t be in tank)

I love unique stuff. I was out in my yard and me and the kids were digging and goofing and I found a hand carved wood horse. Did some research and it resembles native American carvings . Who knows if it is but I like it

This is super cool!

I would not add it to your tank. Brass is just copper and zinc (i wouldn't want either leaching into my water).

But it would be super cool on the stand, attached to canopy or on the wall above the tank.

I would try to find out how old it is and what wreck it belongs too. Might a big historical find

Agree not good for inside tank but definitely cool for outside decor of tank

So I let it soak 24hrs in water n vinegar then rinsed and brushed n rinsed again. I don’t think it’s that old seems machine pressed but good quality dry heavy(bout 5lbs) Have to get brass polish
