Hello just wondering does using a cooling fan on the sump provide the same cooling effect as being mounted on the display tank ?

I run a fan across my sump, actually just installed last night on my new system. Temp keeps creeping up. I have a chiller to install but really don't want to.

yea, I cooled my 125 the same way. Make sure you have a ATO setup, will use a lot more water.
A fan can help bring a tank down 1-2 degrees. Mine is creeping up due to a very large submersible AC pump running my closed loop. I need to get my controller setup so it shuts down that pump if tank gets to 80* and turns on my fan at 79*

I have a temp controller set up with a cooling fan on the sump portion of my 15ga AIO, immediately above the middle chamber, with the probe in the return section

It works well, and will generally drop the temp a few degrees quite quickly if required.

If it were a split system I would put it in the sump for sure, quieter and just as effective.

I use a temperature controller with a fan on the cool side. I've installed it on the sump and on the tank.

I find that installing on the tank is more efficient in terms of cooling.

Cooling in the sump will work too, but isn't as efficient as equipment in the sump is generating heat.
