I have an established tank and for the last three to four months a breakout of diatom is on my sand bed.Anything is possible. How about you describe your present tank and your vision for it. Consider starting a tank journal in members tank forum.
PS: I noticed this is your first post. Welcome to r2r.
Thank you! What's the goal for the refugium? Chaeto, pods, other?
You can buy or DIY:
- HOB refugium as previously stated
- In tank refugium if you have room
- Pod Hotel if goal is just safe place for pods
I have a shower caddy holding chaeto in my tank.
I don't have any special lighting on mine but it still grows chaeto.
Not fast growth and not likely helping anything substantially but the same ball of chaeto has been alive for over 5 years across two tanks so the concept works.
