so I've been using this Fluval canister for a few months now and just saw this? I haven't had any issues but I certainly don't want any.

I'd suggest that the copper winding's are very likely coated or even buried in epoxy. But there are test kits for copper. The API kit worked for me and it's cheap.

Nearly all pumps that will last will have copper and other types of rare/heavy metals in them. They are coated or out of the water and fine.

Actual copper wire is a lot like aluminum that would not dissolve in our lifetime to be a problem, even if it were not coated. What you have to worry about is powder metals and those already dissolved in liquid form. Aragonite will bind to most of these and quickly get them out of your water, but they will also attach to organics and get skimmed out.

In any case, nothing to worry about.
