Hi everyone.

I picked up a bunch of coral frags this weekend at a LFS who's haveing a 40% Black Friday Sale through the end of the month. They sold me the below as a hammer (I asked in the store if it was a hammer or a torch) and after having it in my tank I getting to really study it, I think it's actually a torch. Happy to be wrong, but the tentacles seem to be able to elongate much more than any of my hammers.

Anyhow, now I'm less confident in some of the other frag's identifications and would like to try to confirm their species. I'm not as interested in the marketing name, but if you know it, great! I shot these on my Nikon mirrorless with a macro lens and 85B filter through the Avast Porthole under Kessil A360x lights when at the "whitest" part of my schedule. If they're still too blue. I can retake them tomorrow with some manual light settings. My best guess is above each photo.

  1. Some type of blastomussa?

  2. An acan?
    1731982679843.jpeg
  3. Montipora?
    1731982744813.jpeg
  4. I think a favia?
    1731983103180.jpeg
  5. No idea, and I forget what they store called it...
    1731983153950.jpeg
  6. I think this is Bubblegum Digitata Montipora
    1731983253118.jpeg
  7. I have no idea but I loved that it looked like a mini dome brain coral. I'd really love to know what it is... right now it's aproximately the size of a gumball.

  8. I've tried comparing this to online photos but I can't tell if this is a Cyphastrea, Leptastrea or maybe a Bernardpora??
    1731983584995.jpeg
  9. Some kind of encrusting montipora?
    1731983619454.jpeg
  10. Alledgedly this is a "easy" acro?
    1731983666664.jpeg
  11. Another encrusting monti (with some bonus zoas)?
    1731983727954.jpeg
  12. A lobophyllia maybe?
    1731984125485.jpeg
Thanks for all the help!

5 to me like like a hydnophora which is a mean one, the first one is a hammer. I'm the past i had some that looked like that with a few random tentacles doing the hammer. 7 and 8 I'm not too familiar with but the rest seem spot on with id

No guarantees, but if I had to take a shot at them, this is what I would guess:

First one is Likely a hammer, but the indo ones can look like that.

1. Blasto - Not much for names on them. ECC has one that looks exactly like that though.
2. Green Acan
3. Looks like the Dragon Fruit monti from ACI
4. Would need more photos on that one. Kind of a weird shape for a favia.
5. Lime Light Hydnophora
6. Bubblegum Digi
7. Frankenstein Lepto
8. Looks like a micro goni to me
9. Electric Daisey Stylo
10. Not sure what kind of acro. Sorry.
11. Green Monti and looks like Captain Jerk Paly
12. Looks like separate heads to me, so i would guess acans but would likely need a different angle to tell.

Thanks for responding! Agree with you about number 5, I was just reading about aggressive nature. Now that I have some decident pics, I've been using google lens on my phone and searching using this post, which has been freakinshly good at IDing stuff. Here's what Google thinks:

  1. Purple & Teal, UC Azure Sky, UC Senorita Blastomussa Merletti
  2. Green Aussie Lord
  3. Cant decide between a Montipora or a Porites
  4. Platygyra
  5. TSA Lemon Lime Hydnophora (It was very specific, lol)
  6. Bubblegum Digitata Montipora
  7. Frankenstein's Leptoseris or Blue Pavona
  8. Cyphastrea
  9. Electric Daisy Stylecoeniella
  10. No good results
  11. No good results
  12. Not definitive... Acan Bowerbanki, Blasto, Dipsastraea

Thanks for your response! I've been trying to do some more research using Google lens and you just confirmed a lot of my results! I can take some more photos of #4 and #12. Thanks for the bonus ID on the Paly, maybe I will do a seperate post for my zoa's at some point, I only know about half of their names. Last night I was leaning toward micro goni for #8. Is there something I might be able to notice in person to tell it apart from the other options?
