Coral RX or RX pro question

Hi Everyone,

I'm planning on purchasing a bottle of Coral RX to use for my coral I plan to purchase.

The instructions say to use 1 gallon of water and a power head. Is it okay to use less water volume? Like can I use 1/4 of a gallon of water, and dose 1/4 of the Coral RX amount? Or is there a reason they want you to use 1 gallon ?

I have a smallish tank, so I'm not sure I'd want to use a gallon each time.

Coral RX is a super strong dip. Follow their instructions to a tee.

If you less than one gallon, it will fry your corals... :eek:

I sometimes use CoralRx Pro, if it's just a few frags from a well-known seller.
It's 30 drops per gallon, or 2 drops per cup. I'll use 4 drops in 1 pint for the dip, and then two 1 cup saltwater rinses.

If it's a larger frag/colony or wild caught or I have any reason to suspect parasites or hitchhikers, I go with Bayer Advanced.

I've always decreased it in ratio like you describe and I've never had a problem.

Can I use CoralRX on softies/LPS/and SPS?

For the salt water rinse after, how long do you leave it in the salt water rinse?

Yes, you can use it on all corals.
Doesn't take much time, just swish the coral around a bit (5-10 seconds) and you're good to go.

Hi All,

Just curious what containers you guys use to do the Coral RX rinse. I have some plastic storage containers (regular ones from home depot/lowes) which are about a gallon and flat. I dont' think they are food grade containers though.....Would it still be OK to use these for the Coral RX soak & rinse for the 30 minutes? Or should I be concerned about the plastic leeching in the water?

I've had zero issues with rx pro harming coral infact it's not strong enough it seems. Flat worms and a freaking zoa spider survived. I'm pretty ticked and am switching back to Bayer...
