While vacationing in Mrytle Beach SC I found this Coral skeleton on the beach. Anybody have an I'd on it? It looks like lps. Possibly blasto merletti?

I am going with Tubastraea. Most definitely an LPS hard call as to type though.
 
I’ve been trying to find an answer for you. It’s from the outer shelf reef. There’s not much legit scientific data for coral types though. Still digging. It’s not going to be any of the ones in our tanks, it’s much cooler waters.
 
Interesting. Tahoe you may be right but the skeleton does not protrude as far out as some of the pictures I've seen of Sun Coral. Some pics look spot on though.
