I didnt see par readings so shooting in the dark here. Just cause you have the same lights, doesnt mean you have the same par.

Given you indicated you have eliminated nutrients as your issue, you are probably down to a few possible causes: 1. contamination (run carbon), 2 starvation (par / reef roids / flow) or ????
Sorry. Par is 250

I run carbon. We tested the par on my tank as well and again got it around 250. I mean possibly from not feeding. Though I find it odd if I have nutrients.

Is it possible the foxface is picking or my emerald crab?

If your Phosphates and Nitrates where in range and went up that much no coral will be happy especially SPS. Stability is key - they need to stay in range.
They were in range for a while and the same issue. I brought nutrients up because people thought it was starvation before.

Your phosphates were .09 last month, and your nitrates were even higher than they are now. You have light burn because your phosphates are bouncing around.
Light burn from phosohates bouncing around? I haven't heard of this, what do you mean? I'm not trying to be a dick I'm genuinely ignorant

I know plenty of ppl run high par numbers and have great success. But I also see some nice tanks with that 250-300 range in par. Not sure….just a thought

I should also preface emy previous answer by saying my buddy who is a coral farmer has the same tank with the same water height and the same lights running at the same setting and he is growing coral like mad
What does your buddy think is the issue. Having a friend who is a coral farmer is a great thing to have. You’re a lucky person!

Maybe 10% chance. Most don't but the occasional specimen does.
The hilarious part is as I'm typing you this my emerald crab is at the bottom of the coral right now see attached pics

Seems like a light issue. 250 par in one spot is low and no telling how low it gets outside of the spread. You want at least 350 across the top of the tank. I'm new to SPS also started around 9 months. Have about 20 frags now doing great at 14 months. Stability is key along with lights and flow.

I do as well so it makes it a bit hard to believe it's a par thing
