Not sure if I posted this in the right place but I would love to hear everyone's experience with cowfish. I have one right now and I love him more than anything. I dont want the typical "my friend had a cousin who had a friend who's boxfish died and their tank crashed" stories. Tell only YOUR stories.. and include pics if you have some cause I think they're so cute.

I'll start anyways, I've had my cowfish for 4 months now. Hes a little pig and tries to eat literally everything which sometimes makes it a pain to clean the glass cause hes constantly trying to chew the sponge. If I put my finger in the tank he'll come up and bump my finger with his horns and nibble on my finger. He knows what my fiancee looks like and goes crazy when he comes up to the tank... also he likes the color blue and is scared of the color green.

I've read a lot about them nuking tanks. I think a lot of the hype is just that, hype. While they CAN nuke your tank, just because they die in your tank doesn't mean they will. Usually this happens when they die under high stress. I've had friends who have had them die in their tanks and everything be just fine. As long as they're not getting bullied in your tank it's usually okay

I love Cowfish. Have corals so it is a no no.
I see some people talking about box fish and corals but I have never seen one or heard of someone who actually had one that ate coral. They'll definitely clean your tank of shrimp and tube worms and might give the occasional coral a test nibble. I'd buy that there might be bad apples but I don't think it's common. One of my LFS has one in their mixed display tank.

the girl in my profile picture was an angel, and would eat anything and would love to see me when I came home, she just loved my corals even more.

I don't have any coral but he definitely chews on my live rock all the time so I wouldn't trust him with any corals

I had a scrawled cowfish for the past 2 years (up until last week when i woke up and found him on the floor) when i purchased him he was the size a nickel and grew to about 3 inches. Never seen him touch any corals and i have zoas, acans, forgswan, hammer, and plenty of sps's. The only issue i had was him bullying my yellow tang but it wasn't that bad. I'm currently waiting for my LFS to get another in.

That's so cute! I have a 55gal right now that hes in and hes getting a little big. His horns had barely grown in when I got him but now he bumps me with them all the time. He loves to race around the tank when I come over. My fiancee and I are in the process of building a 120gal tank right now and it will definitely be interesting to see him race around that
