Is CPVC safe to use in a reef system? I know it’s primarily used in potable water applications. My concern is the C in the CPVC - can the chlorine leach into the system? Anyone successfully using CPVC in their setup?

Interested as well. I’ve heard both yes and no.

You must have some laying around. That stuff isn’t cheap these days.

Buddy of mine is a master plumber and has a decent section of 1/2” he doesn’t need and asked me if I wanted it. So the free price is right lol

You know the c in regular pvc is chloride too right. Cpvc is nsf 61 certified for drinking water which has leaching standards so you should be good to go.

Except virtually none of the bulkheads and other fittings we commonly use fit it. 1/2 pvc and cpvc are NOT the same diameters and such.

This is true different diameters on pvc and cpvc but they do make adapters you can get for like $1.50

Plumbing fittings are not an issue for this situation as I am going to use the Cpvc to glue to my rock. Then insert a 1/2” acrylic rod with some Marco rock attached to the rod and then glue my frags and colonies to the Marco. This way I can easily move corals around or for fragging or any other maintenance in the tank so the corals aren’t in the way.
