Sorry these pictures a really bad... Randomly decided to look at my tank with my flashlight and was amazed to see this little guy walking around under a rock. Barely can see him and still trying to get a better picture. He seems to be some sort of hairy hermit? Strange considering this tank has not had a new addition in months... Hopefully you guys have some sort of idea!? He seemed to have some sort of claws. Does hairy mean non-reef safe?!

Looks like a hermit for sure, If he has outgrown his shell, They have to find some kindof protection, Hint the rock. Get a few shells to add to the tank. bet youll seehim crawling around in a new shell! hope this helps bud.

Could possibly be a hermit, But I am thinking some sort of other crab that doesn't need a shell. I am pretty sure I know what my hermits look like, but you might be right lol theres always room for more critters. He sorta reminds me of hairy emerald crab.

Thats the scary part :/ havent added a new thing into my tank in months... its strange. I'll try to get a better picture. He doesn't seem very frightened by my flashlight, he kinda just dances just out of reach of my camera.

All crabs are only at best safe with caution imo. If you want to be safe, you can trap him but I usually let them alone unless they prove to be problem or start growing too big. When they get bigger they get bold and really easy to catch.

Looks like some sort of mithrax crab.
You could make him your new sump lord ;)
I don't know much but I immediately thought of some sort of Mithrax crab. He's living under my rock notorious for bristle worms, maybe he's making them his dessert?

It kind of looks like a gorilla crab. If it has small hairs and small black tipped claws then that's what it is.
His claws seemed more white rather than black. Will continue to search

I didn't realize this little sucker was in my tank for three months. In past month I have had three baby urchins. Never had one in my tank before. I have found these sea creatures are just great at hide and seek.

Sump lord, I like that! Got a crab in my sump, not sure what it is and should probably try and find out but it has all but tripled in size in 6 months. Getting to the stage where I wonder if it will be better with a nice hot sauce or just some garlic butter...

PS It does seem to keep things relatively clean around its home though but won't be able to keep it much longer.

Yip I can see how that conversation will work well...but Honey, they said I need a MUCH bigger tank or else the crab must go....no it won't cost that much to upgrade...how much exactly, well it all depends!
