Ooh that's a tough call. Appears to be more like corynactis. If you get it to retract and it has a skeletal structure I would rule it as a cup coral

I have about 7 of the on the rocks in my frag tank for the past 2 years Nd havnt grown or done anything beside keeping my baby stomenella population down

So I have a phosphate issue, could this be causing it by overkilling snails?

Personally indont think so, snails dieng wouldnt cause a long term phosphate issue, the way i look at it for elevated phosphate is from foods, not fully cured live rock(depending as it can take years for rock to mature) and not using rodi. If you find a graveyard of snail shells by the corynactis mushroom then yes it could be the reason, but depending on your tank size and maitnence

I loved mine. At first they blossomed, but over time they petered out. I enjoyed them while I had them.

I believe they're NPS so I would recommend target feeding if you want to keep it around (:

Shouldn't cause any harm as the tentacles are extremely short and they don't tend to walk around like other nems.

I have a cup coral that I found at my LFS on the base of a dying gorg. I offered them $1, took it home and have been feeding it every time I feed my dendros. It looks incredibly beautiful with long flowing arms with white nematocysts. It's plumping up quickly and almost looks like a baby rhyzo (:

If I came across a corynactis I would definitely keep it. I'm in to odd little rarities... Haha
