current orbit leds good enough?

I have had the Current Orbit 48 inch Marine LED over my 55 gallon 20 inch deep tank with about 2-3 inch sand bed for 3 months and have seen good growth in acans, polyps, leather corals and my Duncan has gone from one head to 7 under this light. IMHO this light is great.

I thought the same thing I like it but I read that I needed more as well as the the wattage is kinda low on the current compared to others I lost color in my zoas as well as hammer and frogspawn im hoping the new leds will be better

I have a 240 gallon tank and run two of the 72 inch orbit marine pro. I have amazing color, growth from softies to lps and awesome sps growth. I have tried the hyras, and ecotech g4s, honestly my coral has grown better w current and has better color than any led light I have used. My new tank is only 6 months old. So that has a lot to say. In addition currents customer service destroys aqua illumination there is no comparison. Ecotech which is basically the same question you get better techs but even then they are not all that either. I have had a few techs from current, literally figure things out for me that I was totally lost on, (no I’m not a newbie but I’m an info geek). These lights are amazing. Please note I have the current marine pros not the new current marine ic pro w the loop system. Here are some pics well If they load and this is onky 6 months old.

how high off the water are your lights and what is your lighting schedule/intensity and what are your red and greens set at?

I have them sitting right on the tank actually is what current recommended. I run preset 3 usually so I don’t know what each intensity is but I have found that 3 works good but I do change it to preset 4 when I go to bed which is 930-10. Then when I’m up at 8, the lights are just ramping up.

I have the newest ones, the ic pro's, duals. The loop software is a bit different. I added some corals today so will see if my settings work.
blue at 70
white at 30
green and reds at 20

I probably turn your blues to 100 and greens and reds maybe to 50. I would maybe start at 30 or 40 on whites, but I don’t know what you had before that. You have to acclimate your corals so for a week I used my setting of sunshine and clouds. It was a nice mixture of everything and nothing bleached

thanks Sarah. Lights are brand new over a brand new tank. Corals in just got put in--most are extras for a lfs trade. Eager to get some new ones for the tank.

thanks @reefnewb1982 and @van7271 I was so hesitant on these lights but just couldn't do more $$ so am hoping these newer ones will do the job. Could always add a 3rd one down the line if I felt I needed it. Be a while before I add any acros as I think they need a bit more established.

Have the same lights. I run 100 blue and 20 white. Red and green are around 15-20. I set mine according the the AB+ program well for at least pectrums that these lights do have

That should be okay, for the blue and whites, but the green and red are a little high for my liking (but that’s me). I would just watch for algae growth.

so far no real algae issues yet. I may have them a bit lower. Can't remember without going out there to check. Next weekend I may have hubby help me lower the lights to either the 3 inch or 5 inch height. I can turn down whites if too much. 3 inches doesn't leave a lot of working room without constant sliding the lights. b

Just mounted mine with the arms last night. I really like them. Much better than sitting on the tank.

Honestly I️ have the same current lights. I️ have grown torch and bubble corals and other lps with them at 18in deep. You can always build up rock and make them closer to the surface.

I added an Orphek 120 UV spectrum bar to mine. Mounted it right to the current arm mounts

@Bayareareefer18 I might do the same at some point. I even have the wider mounts so could extend if needed. How high are yours? At the 3inch? I smiled at your egg crate. We just replaced ours for the mesh from brs. You do know you can pull out the legs and just store them else where, right? I assume you are in the san francisco bay area? Would love to find a local club
