My first build thread!

I’ve recently decided it’s time to replace my old acrylic tank. For my new build I will be going with a custom glass aquarium from miracles aquariums. The tank will be a peninsula and 48”x30”x24” (LxWxH).

I will be moving over all my existing equipment besides the return pump and sump. My plan is to go with a deltec eflow12 return and I recently picked up a 5-6 month used proclear aquatics red flex 4-n-1 sump which looks like brand new.

looking forward to getting this build going!

#reefsquad this will be a good follow. Nick here may be a new member, but has been importing fish and coral for years to supply Southern Ontario and beyond. More than half of my display pieces have come through this man. Below is a photo of one of my favorite pieces I've gotten from Nick (no filter)

Nick, looking forward to following along.

When do you get your tank from Miracles in?
Have any pictures of where the new set up is going?
What do you think your stock list will be for fish?

Cheers

Sounds like a good plan. I’ve got a 130 pen. You have some good room to work with.

Thanks Tyler! That welso has changed a lot since you got it. Looks wicked!

As for the tank I haven’t asked Derek yet about build time yet. I’d imagine it will be 6 weeks atleast this time of year. Haven’t decided yet where it’s going either. I got a couple spots in mind though.

Not sure yet if I’m going to keep all my fish from the original tank but I’ll definitely be keeping these:

- koi tang
-gem tang
-yellow tangs
-Bodianus Opercularis
-super male rosy scale fairy wrasse
-bullet hole clown pair
-Bangaii cardinals pair

Evening everyone!

Heard back today from miracles and the tank should only be 6-7 weeks build time which is less then expected!

couple things have changed since my last post.

I have decided to stick with a Neptune cor20 return pump instead of the deltec eflow 12 and run a second cor20 (my existing one) as the pump for my UV sterilizer and potential manifold.

I also decided to switch overflow boxes and go with the Fiji cube low profile overflow box to try something different then the Eshopps overflows.

My stand has finally come is so the plan is this weekend to have the stand put together and get the sump and all the under tank plumbing done and out of the way.

I went ahead and got in some red pvc pipe too so the piping and the sump match and fittings match the colours of my sump lol

that’s it for now!

Was suppose to have this built and done a few weeks ago but finally got around to finishing up the stand and sump plumbing for this build.

once the tank comes I plan to build a matching canopy for the aquarium as well

I have decided to switch out my old skimmer and go with the new aquavitro division 250 to save some space in the sump. I also like the idea that I could have it set up as a recirculating protein skimmer as well and have it hooked up to my manifold with the Neptune flow sensors to dial in the flow going to the skimmer.

currently I’m on the look out with the help of @TK_KW for white unions for my return lines flow sensor. It will bug me so much if I got grey unions for it while everything else is matching with the red and white plumbing lol.

more equipment just arrived today!

I decided to make some more space in my sump so I ordered the new aquavitro division 250 protein skimmer for this build.

I’m very impressed with the build quality and how easy this skimmer will be able to clean when doing maintenance.

I will be using this skimmer with the recirculating option to increase how affective this skimmer works. It’s going to run off my manifold powered by a cor15.

I also plan to use the refugium section on my sump now to mainly grow pods. The section for it won’t really do much for nutrient export but that’s okay. I will also be using one of the new Neptune GRO led refugium lights to power this refugium.

that’s it for today! Hopefully the tank will be coming soon!

Was lazy last night and didn’t get around to taking photos but here they are!

Finished getting the tank plumbed tonight so all that’s left to do is to clean out the inside!

Very happy with the build quality from miracles as always!

I plan to cover the bottom trim and foam with a boarder of some sort to match the stand. I will also be building a matching canopy in the next week or 2 as well!

Finally got my light fixture moved over to the aquarium. Still lots to do though (mainly cord management and setting up the ato) Gonna have lots of time off this week with Easter so I plan to finish up the majority of stuff is week!

I will be adding wood panel doors to match the stand to the canopy. The frame for the canopy is built out of 1” aluminum.

didn’t loose any fish or corals in the transfer over but my abbreant tang after couple months of being with my gem tang and hybrid tang decided to beat the wheels off him at some point today. Haven’t seen any fighting since I’ve been home so hopefully that’s the end of it. My gem hasn’t been hiding at and doesn’t seem stressed out so I’m not too concerned with it.

anyways that’s it for now!
