So Ive been in the hobby a long time....

But chalice is pretty new to me, its my basic understanding that you just have to have one eye per frag. The article I looked at the guy just used scissors and an exacto type knife. My chalice is on a disk though and I have an Inland band saw. Just looking for input, I need to start looking at cutting a couple of mine.

i am using the same brand saw for my fragging. it can be as many eyes per frag as you like. the only thing to watch out for is that the chalice must be wet wet the whole time during cutting or the flesh will heat up and it may not heal well

+1 watch the heat. I usually dip it in to the tank frequently during the fragging process. Also, my experience has been that the less you can touch the flesh the better. I don't use a razor anymore as I have found it usually just complicates things. I just make my initial cut with a diamond-blade dremel and usually finish up whatever flesh and skeleton remains attached with a good pair of surgical scissors. I also have a stainless steel chisel with is useful for gently prying the frag away from the colony. I always dip in Revive for a few minutes after fragging, gently blowing away the damaged tissue and disinfecting the cut edges :)

Have fun!

yes im pretty sure you need and eye on the frag. if it is just flesh i do not think there will be any growth and it will die

I used to think that you needed an eye as well. However, I've seen several chalice frags that didn't have an eye and they grew them. YMMV

It can survive without an eye, but it will grow much faster if you have an eye so that you can target feed it.
