I am not 100% sure on this one. I do know that thy will kill each other but I am not sure if they eat each other.Do they become cannibalistic when adult?
Did I read that right? You found these eggs in your garden?
If they get hungry yes they will eat each other while young not sure about when mature.I am not 100% sure on this one. I do know that thy will kill each other but I am not sure if they eat each other.
That is true. It can be very risking trying to pair cuttlefish in captivity, especial because they are so hard to sex. The male will sometimes act as males and vice versuFrom the little I've read on cuttles they mature very fast and pair up. In close proximity the pair will likely cross off all other cuttles. Even after pairing the male is still the biggest danger to the female. The courtship can be brutal.
Would they be able to survive if you released them?I read that too, I plan on moving these guys to a 5ft tank once they have fully mastered their fishing skills then I would like to release them back into the wild.
They should grow fast at the temp I have them in, I have added fans and there is no heater but they really need to be cooler still.
After rethinking it, I think you are right. Cuttlefish are born with natural instincts like to hunt and change color and texture. So they most likely will be able to live in the wild. You could also look into finding an aquarium that would take themI can't see why not it's their natural habitat? I am using NSW so they are being exposed to same conditions. They are hunting mysis and I plan to introduce them to tiny live crabs which are under every rock when the tide is out. Plus going to have to try and get them on defrosted frozen prawn so can keep up with their appetites. Will cost about £15 a week to feed as they are burning through my live food stores fast. They are eating around 10 mysis each in 24 hours.
Be sorry to see them go, but I don't think it's going to be possible to house them full grown, rehoming them would need people willing to give them specialist conditions with a large well oxygenated cool marine tank.
I believe the are all always cannibalistic. Prob best to separate them soon. I love love love them. One of my dream tanks. That and an octopus... been in the back of my mind learning and secret planning since my first reef.Do they become cannibalistic when adult?
from tapatalk app on the phone its easy, theres an option to upload vid instead of Pic, same from the desktop. It may be a premium member thing though. You may have to upload to you tube and insert a link.I can get video to upload anyone know how?
I have one of a baby hunting and a couple of others now. The baby in the transparent egg hatched last night so no video of that, but was amazing as I could see its fins undulating and it wiz round in circles in the egg or flex its tentacles....über cute!
