Hello people!

So, I really enjoy making threads on the forum. I’d like to think I can be pretty creative at times.

I figured I’d compile a list of ideas in this thread as they come up. Sometimes I have more ideas than I can post to the forums.

Maybe the mods can use some of the ideas for their daily thread topics.

Maybe you guys can post your own thread ideas.

Or maybe we can just laugh at the things I can come up with. Not all my ideas come to fruition. Some of the more outrageous ones get locked away in a vault. Yes, they can get even more outrageous than the ones that actually do see the light of day.

So, my first idea…is this thread. lol

But seriously, I intend to start jotting thread ideas here because sometimes I can’t keep up, and I just want to brainstorm viral thread ideas for fun.

Here’s one we were just talking about and neither of us are 100% clear on…

Do rocks need to be completely dry prior to CA gluing? Or can the likes of a scrub/rinse, followed by compressed air spot drying be used to reliably glue up live rock?

“If your parent were reefers, would that have made you more or less likely to join the hobby?”

“It’s 1 am and you can’t sleep because you’re thinking about your tank…what are you thinking about?”

“Are young reefers starting out now lucky or unlucky?“

“Is using AFR taking the easy way out?“

“Can carbon dosing or NP Bacto balance cause STN?”

“How to NOT setup a tank —What’s the worst advice to ever give a beginner?”

“Would you buy a blemished fish if it meant you got a discount? Where do you draw the line for how blemished it is?”

lol. You got the punchline.

“Would you buy a blemished fish if it meant you got a discount? Where do you draw the line for how blemished it is?”
Good question. It is hard to answer, though. I guess it depends on its behavior. Is it eating? Does it appear to have disease? Is the blemish an open wound? I feel that the answers to these questions would factor into my decision making.

I rescued Ctenochaetus striatus and it was fairly beat up- only one eye, lots of fin damage and some abrasions. It was eating, breathing normally, and appeared to be swimming just fine. He is aptly named, "Blinky" and is still with me to this day.

@KrisReef You mentioned something about me and a new thread topic idea. Haha

This is the place where I can brainstorm freely. 😂

The original poster in the other thread was asking for a diagnosis for a Tang that looked healthy 3 days ago when it was first added to a tank and it died after being in the tank only 3days. I suggested that some new fishes just seem to check out instead of adapting to aquarium life and captivity.

Thread “idea” is to discuss if folks have had this happen to them, or have they noticed that some fish look healthy but seem to give up and die in captivity.

I responded to the op with this:

Sometimes they seem to just check out instead of schooling in an aquarium. I don’t know why or what percentage of new fishes go this route but it is not as uncommon as I would like.

There it is.

Ooh. That’s a great topic!

Do you want to make the thread or should I? You can totally go for it.

I don’t think I can do it, I don’t have a badge 😇

I was thinking about one of the “Gods Must Be crazy” movies and the character “The Little Bushman.” He was put in jail for something and he was so beside himself in lock up that he was sitting quietly and dying because he couldn’t handle being stuck inside where he couldn’t see the stars and had no freedom to roam around.

Do fish sometimes respond this way?

I don’t think I can manage a thread properly atm. Feel free to post it up.
