OK, that's officially the coolest nano that I've ever seen. Great job Dave. I can't wait to see this thing up and running.

Thanks again guys. :)

I put in some much needed time on this tonight; yes I may tend to procrastinate just a bit. I worked on the divided sump this evening and hoped to silicone it in place for water tests in the AM before work. Now an early trip to Lowes due to Dremel bit malfunction.
The sump is to be divided into two sections.
A) The return section will hold an old Maxi-Jet 1200 for the return and the Aquaclear 25 watt heater.
B) The Bio-Filter section will be filled with some nice Pukani and Mini-Bio Balls. Under the live rock is another old Maxi-Jet 1200 with a sponge prefilter. The end that connects airline tubing and the tubing itself will be super glued on to prevent them from coming off accidentally. The air line will run just outside the sump with the power cabels. This will force lots of fresh air into the bio-filter area. This should serve several purposes. A) It will help the bio-filter bacteria work better due to all the fresh air. B) It keeps gunk from setteling to the bottom of the sump. C) It super oxygenates the water for a healthy reef since there will be no skimmer. D) It should also work as a chiller by forcing cool air through the water column in the sump. E) The fresh air should help stabilize the PH.

The water will flow from section 1 to 2 through a slotted partion overflow. There will be a filter media container that the water will be forced to flow through. This is made from an old Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium container. The water will flow first through the Chemi-Pure Elite on top of live rock rubble. This forces 100% of return water to be chemically filtered and removes all micro-bubbles so they wont end up in my display.

Here is the sump being built tonight. The divider, the silicone, and the Tropic Marin container that will be the media basket. Still have to sand the hole for the container to fit in but more Dremel problems. Glueing it all in and will sand tomorrow before water test. :)

Here it is pre silicone but super glued in key spots.

First water test for the divider failed. Re siliconed it and placed equipment in their places. Will retest in AM after fully cured.

Water test passed. We are ready to roll, but first a few more pics.

I think this is one of the coolest things about this tank. When the water is added it actuall magnifies what is in the tank. The stand pipe shows it perfectly. It is a 1" stand pipe.

Here it is running with fresh water.

Really cool and creative idea. While it's not what normally would new considered a show piece it does have it's own character and charm. Good luck with it

Man that's an awesome tank setup. Best DIY tank I've seen in a LONG time.

Just wanted to remind you to post the obligatory sign and lid pic. You don't want to be disqualified over a technicality
