Your selections are bad, and don’t even follow your own rules put into place.
I didn't want to get involved in this, but you come back with the same thing every month. Criticizing something you have no say in is pointless. Just admit you're a sore loser and that's all

The subject for Dec 2025 POTM contest was Red and or Green.
It is now Time to choose the winner

The poll allows multiple choices so choose the ones you like from the numbered entries below. The voting thread will close on Jan 31st 2026 at 11:59 pm EST.

As always, we thank Avast Marine for sponsoring our POTM contest. Visit their website HERE and be sure to take a look at the great products they have to offer.

Winner will be determined by this R2R Member voting by poll. In order to be eligible to have votes counted in the poll, voting members must have at least 25 meaningful posts and have been a member of R2R for at least 1 month by the time the poll ends (votes that do not meet this criteria may show in the poll but will be disregarded in the final count). In case of a tie, Team R2R will assist in picking a winner. Rules, deadlines and terms are subject to change at staff discretion at anytime.

PLEASE REMEMBER, YOU HAVE TO ENTER YOUR VOTES IN THE POLL, NOT VIA COMMENT IN THIS THREAD. IT'S GREAT TO COMMENT, BUT PLEASE USE THE POLL TO VOTE. YOU'LL NEED TO BE ON THE WEB VERSION OF THE SITE IN ORDER TO SEE THE POLL.
So let's vote for the winners of Dec POTM!!!

For real. From the voting it looks like around 100 people participate and follow the rules. Yet a few people demand changes to fit their whims.
It's really unbelievable that a niche photo contest that is mainly about learning from fellow hobbyist gets so heated. People just lose sight of what's important.

It’s pretty clear the system works for most people. Plenty of participants vote, follow the rules, and enjoy the contest for what it is. The same system has been in place for years and has worked well throughout that time. A small group demanding changes to cater to personal preferences just takes away from the purpose of learning, sharing, and enjoying the hobby. The contest was never meant to please everyone individually, but to bring the community together. It’s unfortunate how easily the focus shifts away from that and turns something positive into unnecessary tension.

Tough choices this month. Good job all.

Participation is fun for me. If something isn't fun I just choose not to participate. It's kind of like playing a game you don't enjoy or playing with people you think are cheating. I just choose to skip the activity and move on to something that I enjoy. Its voluntary 😉
I mean it's not like there's a huge cash prize up for grabs. I'm not eligible for the prize and I couldn't care less about a badge. I do enjoy it when a member likes an image I post. That's satisfaction enough for me.

If you boil it down, connecting and learning with other hobbyists is what this whole site is about. This is a relatively tiny hobby in a tiny corner of the internet. It's not easy to find someone to chat with who cares about reef tanks. It made me very happy when so many people liked my photo of shrimp gobies a few months ago because it was such a nerdy and niche topic. Two small grey fish that I connected with people over.

Hey everyone, please let's end the debate over the workings of the photo contest in this thread. If you would like to offer feedback, that can be done constructively (without insult) either in DM or in the forum feedback forum. Any further comments in this thread regarding the workings of the photo contest will be removed. We want to keep this thread focused on the spirit of this contest and building community. Feel free to reach out to me or any staff member with questions. Thanks for your understanding.

You said it! It has always amazed me how people who are involved in such a relatively niche interest and skill set, can find so much to argue about in such a small space. 95% of people (made up stat) don't have a clue what a cyphastrea is, yet we want to have this kind of exchange with fellow hobbyists over whether a green is green enough.
Im done people-ing for the night. Back to the Smorgasbord...

我真的很想投票,但好像我沒有資格。可能是我的帳號報名時間太短,或是我發文數量不夠。
