Tempered oh no! Ive done this myself. Not with $1000 tank. Mine was a 75g long panels were not tempered the short ones were go figure. Guess which I didnt check.

Dang that sucks. I feel like I've seen several rimmed tanks with tempered bottoms. I has one that had an orange tag stating it but can't remember the brand.

Except it wasn't the bottom. :( It was a side.

I’ve made this same mistake and it’s stopped men from drilling. Also out $1000. So sorry man.

Talking to a custom tank maker I just found. Guess I will have to go that route.
Good thing I didn't take this week off work to work on building a stand and getting it set up. ;)

Update:
Took the tank to a store and got the panel replaced. Got it home and drilled almost 4 holes…..the hole saw grabbed a little bit when it broke through the tank on the 4th hole….

I feel like the fish gods are trying to tell me something

Noo! I just spotted this thread!!

Most drills will have a “clutch” which can be set to slip at X ft/lbs… I always recommend setting your clutch around 7-10lbs, then adjusting as necessary…

Using the drill clutch prevents this exact catastrophe! I’m so sorry!

The sad thing was i was using the clutch drill and had it set to 3.

Woah! This would be the first time I’ve seen a clutched drill break glass!

At 3lbs, if should have had no chance of cracking the entire pane… was the drill not set to “screw mode”, thus rendering the clutch useless?

Terrible luck Buddy, maybe have them drill the holes on the new replacement pane before switching it out.
