Hello,
I am on vacation and I received a photo of my toadstool looking like this. It had brown slime, that flows with the powerhead that is too the left of it. Is it melting or is it normal?
Thanks
Camden

It could just be shedding. Mine sometimes look just grim when they're shedding.

Could also be cyano but the rock behind looks pretty clean
Dont think it's cyano. Tank is older and I've never dealt with it I don't think. This was fresh from the LFS.

The brown stuff is flakey and flowey.

TO really answer this you need to know the parameters. These are hard to kill. They can also be practically cut down to nothing and they grow. They also sometimes shrink like this for a week then come back.

You can also take out the rock and BRIEFLY sniff the coral - watching that it doesn't squirt you. If it doesn't smell dead, it's probably ok. Make sure the parameters, temp, salinity are ok
