Devil's hand die off?

Another discounted softie from a big box store. It looked okay freshly acclimated with a few areas that gave me pause, but I knew these had a tendency to throw tantrums and it wasn't exactly in a great setup at the store. The first photo with no polyp extension is day one (I think) and the second is from about a week later.



Do I need to be worried about it continuing to decline? The parts that are perked up are perking up more day by day. Should I just let it figure out what's dead and what's alive on its own without worrying about it and re-mount if it falls off?

Would starting on some supplemental dosing give it a boost to regrow a bit faster?

This light I'm using was sold as being PAR 80 at 12" and this is about 6" from the light. It seems to be "low end" of enough for leather? This tank was just intended to get me back into the hobby with macro and inverts, but I ain't ever been able to turn down a deal unfortunately.

My prior nano never had leather coral so it's all new to me. Thank y'all in advance for the help.

Its a bit low for lighting but IME water movement is almost more important to leathers than lighting. Seeing the seaweed or macro in the back gives me the impression its low flow or no flow, I think this is the main problem. my opinion

It's directly under the outflow from the return pump. I had it unplugged for photos. Ordinarily it's getting wiggled around a bit and the water is very nearly splashing over the front of the tank. I could angle the nozzle toward it more if that might be helpful.

I heeded "needs more flow" and shifted the nozzle a bit to blow directly at it, versus past it. It went from gently wiggling to getting smacked around and it looks far happier. I knew they liked flow but I had no idea they liked "deep sea gorgonian" flow.

I'll be looking into a larger return pump for now and an additional circulation pump to aim at it after I get the slightly larger nano set up and ready.
