The funnel (found a jumbo one to print) definitely helps me with keeping the beads in the canister and not all over the place.

I will also say that my resin is lasting quite a bit longer being packed in with a tool, as opposed to the rinse/slam on counter/add more resin/rinse/slam on counter repeatedly/create a ginormous mess method that I was using prior to.

The little canister stand works well to keep a hand free.

Interesting.
Never heard of this so will have to check it out.

I've just been using bottom of 250mL measuring cup that I saw on BRS site some years ago.

Didn’t know you have to pack the holder so tight.
I’m not sure of the advantage.

I used to pack it in real tight and got 0 tds.

Now, I just fill it, shake it, fill it to the top, pat that down with a spoon and put on the top.

Still get zero.

I normally use a piece of PVC with a cap at the end. Just ordered one this morning.

I make about 100 gallons of RO a month. Just want to make it easier. I use a piece of PVC with a cap at the end.
Hey whatever works! I was using some plastic bottle that fit in the mouth of the canister pretty well for a long time. It didnt have the oomph needed for a good packing. Something with an elongated handle and some heft (like you’re pvc setup) would have been much better. Hmmm…I foresee a project with that old shop press in the garage! Ha

I don’t think (I know, big surprise! Ha) that it makes a huge difference as far as removing tds in that regard. I can attest to the staggering difference in total throughput in gallons of zero tds water between a lightly packed cartridge as opposed to a well packed cartridge. I’m not sure on the science behind it but I think it has to do with channeling while running, and gas exchange when sitting…..but don’t quote me on that as I failed science….and math…..and history….and phys ed, but who’s counting?
