Had some trace element issues last week due to issues after an ATO sensor got stuck and heaters overreacting after a water change. Corals are still a little miffed after the elements fluctuation issues but coming around.
I was having some cloudiness in my 120 and decided to try some Vibrant. I dossed on the low side of the recommended amount and still my corals all got really upset.
Decided I'm leaving everything alone for a bit so they can all just calm the heck down
I did add some carbon in a bag to both tank sumps and after only 2 days the water is already looking much cleaner.

Sorry for the blues, some day when I grow up I'll figure out how to take better pictures. :p

Looks great! Did you have an LFS order you a tank and drill it for you? I'd like to get a 120 but then have the tank drilled for the shadow overflow.
Hey @reefinnewb sorry for the slow respond.
Yes thank was ordered from lfs and drilled by them for a small price (cant remember, wanna say $15 per hole)

I do not recommend the Eshopps Eclipse L Bulkhead i have though. Its to noisy and not really supposed to have the amount of flow the 120 needs. Its rated at 1000gph and I've got it around 1300. The dryside is not large/tall enough so inorder for me to get it as gueit as possible the water stays right at the top of the emergency tube which is 1/4/3/8 below the lip of the box.

Good Luck!

Been slow going around here reef wise. Having issues getting the 120 stable. Corals are all miffed since I added some vibrant a few weeks ago. Trying to get past the uglies which I guess is just going to take some time.

Got some mold issues in my salt mixing tank I need to address. Wondering if vinegar will do it or I need to bleach the tank out.

hi,time,skip the fix in a bottle..jmo.
1st "outside" air allowed in mixing cont. ? yes vinegar or citric acid mix to clean.
let's ask @sfin52 @TriggerFinger citric ratio, and just reg rinse or need nutrelizer.
i have only used vinegar ,then rinse on eq.
sulfuric acid on large holding tanks, but then baking soda as a nutelizer,
acid is fast ,but dangerous ..PPE,eyes,skin ,breathing,!!! ...

PS: pics ?

Same as above and I use warm water

Thx Frank for the response and pulling in the crew!! :)

Pic shows the bottom of the salt mixing tank. This is a 275 gal IBC tank. Yes unfortunately I had the lid open and hanging off the opening to allow heather cords in. I need to drill and put a perpetrator in for the heaters so I can close the lid.
Will get that work done while I'm cleaning the tank out.
Took this last night. The tank has about 25 gallons or so of salt water left. I filled everything I could and did some water changes but not really sure I want to use this water anymore anyway.

Looks like a bacterial film…I get it in my RO brute when I forget to put the lid back on. I personally do not use that water for my tank when that happens.
For that huge container, I would fill 1/3 of the way with tap water and a few gallons of bleach. If you can fit a mop in the top to mop the bottom and sides then definitely do that! Drain, rinse and air dry completely.
And definitely figure out a way to seal it so you don’t have to do this again…that’s a HUGE container o_O

New mixing tank?? Had a hugh tax bill this year and same time had some issues with my mother that cost us a lot of money so all my aquarium funds went byby :( will defiantly have to wait before getting anything new.

Thx yes I will need to drain and clean. Cant get a mop in the 6" hole but last time I cleaned it I used a long tank scrapper/cleaner pad and was able to scrub the sides and bottom. Its a tight fit and a real pain but it can be done.

I really cant complain about the tanks, it cost me 120 for both IBC tanks and I think as long as I can get them sealed it should be ok.
