Difference Between MH and ATI T5 Sunpower

alattner-yeah its a HUGE shock to the corals and fish. you'll lose all your corals or at least bleach them all if you dont properly acclimate them.

Dougers. 4bulb will be plenty.

Also wanted to let you guys know that there is a difference between T5 brands and ATI is top of the line. So dont expect the same results from other T5 brands....just FYI

Ty for the info. Ya I went with the ati myself. Also, whenever u get a chance.. please do put up a fts. That would be great to see.

The only thing I didn't like about running t5s was there was even coverage all over the tank. That is no dimmer spots for less light loving corals.
What color bulb were you running with the MH?

Beautiful!
Would love to see a pic of your set up. I have a 6x39w fixture and still haven't figured out how to mount it.
What do you have your fans running at?

That's what rock overhangs are for:) From what I'm seeing in pics is that you get better color out of the whole coral with t5' s for that very reason. MH seems to have good colors but not always on all side of the coral...

This is the same move I made a couple months ago, went from 2x250w HQI to an ATI 6x54w, and really couldn't be happier, especially since I added a reefbright, which was super easy to fasten to the ATI. I am just looking to add 1 more reefbright strip and I will be all set on the 75.

very true. half of my corals were somewhat colored and healthy and the other half were dead looking. Thats my favorite part about the T5s is that light is around the entire tank helping the corals 360degrees around.

oigimsar- I got anchors for my dry wall above the tank...rated at 75lbs each. that how i hung mine. I'm not sure what you mean about what I have the fans running at but it says to put them at 9v. They come on with the lights and stay on about 5mins after the lights turn out.

Very cool and love that skull in there. post some pix of it when it grows coraline algae :)

Really huge difference in color, can't really gauge the difference in growth though. Something to look forward to in the next month or so, a side by side comparison between two evenly timed metal halide photos vs the new t5 set up.

That is what I was asking about the fans. Thanks. Do you have a picture of the anchors, etc? I bought the fixture used and it didn't come with the hanging kit so I am going to need to find parts.

thanks for that link. they look super cool dude! Might have to hit you up one of these days.

that skull is pretty sweet haha. MimicOcto8 what fixture are you running exactly? i was looking at the ATI 6x48 fixture. i was really just wondering if there was a less expensive fixture that would work just as well?

the less expensive one is the sunpower (powermodule being the more $$$$). usually runs somewhere are $600. yes they are expensive but they are top of the line and the pictures dont lie. good luck bud

If you're looking for a sunpower check out reefgeek, they have an option to buy the fixture with bulbs for less.

ReefGeek also runs deals on factory seconds. They are in perfect working condition but may have a scratch or something.
They are great people to work with.
