I currently have a 200 gallon 84x24x24 tank, I have the option of getting the 200 gallon 48x36x27 tank. My tank does not have a sump and the new one does. I’m just not to sure about the dimension difference in the two tanks and I don’t know about the marine land tanks. Your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a tank 30” deepI think ... aquascaping is a challenge , takes my whole arm to reach bottom
...I’d go shallow anymore
That’s what I’m thinking, would it be worth it to gain a sump system tho

I’d stick with your current dimensions. Yes the 36” front to back is nice but I’d rather have 8’x3’x2’ (lxwxh) if switching tanks. Or even a 7’x3’x2’
What about the sump? I hear they are better for corals than the canister filter

What kind of fish do you like? If you're a tang or rabbitfish person, longer is better. If those aren't your focus, it's more about what you prefer. The deeper tank could fit larger coral colonies, anemones, and bigger clams a bit better.

Thank you that really helps, I like my corals way more than my fish lol

They both have their pros and cons
The sump is additional volume and somewhere to hide equipment such as heaters , skimmer , reactors etc .
But that’s a long reach
My current system is 72x27x27

27” deep and I can’t reach anything on the bottom .
Back corner is impossible to reach even for cleaning .

Corals that like light are easier to keep in shallow tanks due to light penetration physics.
Deep tanks look great, but they are like a hotrod convertible in the rain when you have to reach in for anything. If you have a tank maintenance service get the deep tank for sure!

Seems every thing comes at a cost so I better weigh my options

I have a 60x36x24, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to have a tank with a smaller width. I love being able to aquascape and have corals on both side of my rock work
I do agree with that. The one I have now is 24 front to back and what little space there is behind the aquascape is pretty much waisted space.
