I i have a fairly heavily stocked zoanthid frag tank which has become overrun with digitate hydroids. I've been trying to manually remove from the frag plugs which not possible of the hydroid is in amongst the polyps. Some are also attached to the egg crate making manual removal almost impossible.
What are my options here? Will a coral dip kill the ones on the plugs? I've just introduced some peppermint shrimp to see if they do anything.

They are multiplying because of availability of food
You will need to prevent them from eating by directing water flow towards them, not at them and they will soon starve

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
